La Casella

Holiday cottage La Casella offers a unique holiday in the green hills of Umbria. Unique because here you enjoy a combination of a tranquil environment, close to the main cultural attractions of Umbria and Tuscany, real Italian atmosphere, excellent price and high standards.

"The accommodation was what we expected, cosy, complete and peaceful. Paola and Walter are very pleasant hosts."

The cottage is surrounded by a well kept garden with rose beds, fragrant herbs and some fruit trees. Here you will be able to relax in total privacy and natural shade. Do you want to be in the sun, then the pool area is the place to go. The pool is to the oposite side of the garden overlooking the green landscape. It is 14 by 7 meters with roman steps and a deep side.

The owners invite guests, if interested, for a dinner on one of the evenings during their holiday in Umbria.

Dear Saskia and Sylvia,

I already had a good feeling about La Casella. The feedback and the description convinced me to book this wonderful house. Everything you've mentioned was true and real La Casella is fantastic, a real home rather than a holiday rental. There is a lot of privacy, but you have also the possibility to have contact with the owners. Paola and Valter are very friendly and hospitable. Upon arrival they invited us for an Umbrian dinner, a unique experience. We will surely go back to La Casella, but than for two weeks, one week was too short.

Sylvia and Saskia, thank you for advising us to book this holiday home.

Regards,
Tom

Dear Saskia and Sylvia,

We had a wonderful time at La Casella. The accommodation was what we expected, cosy, complete and peaceful. Paola and Valter are very pleasant hosts. We were invited one evening for a drink and snack. The position of the house is perfect if you want to discover Umbria: Assisi, Perugia, Orvieto/Todi, Monti Sibylline etc.) but it was also excellent just to relax at the swimming pool. Maybe one point of improvement could be the heating (in the evenings it can be cool inside). It didn’t work well, despite the assistance of Valter and Alessandro. But this all didn’t ruin our holiday. Umbria -and Tuscany- has showed us being one of the most beautiful regions in Italy.

Regards,
Dick and Annemarie Holland

Dear Saskia and Sylvia,

We had a lovely time at La Casella. Umbria is wonderful. The house is a small pearl. It is furnished in Italian style. We had a warm welcome by the owners Valter and Paola. The garden is well maintained and the swimming pool is ideal to relax and to enjoy the wonderful views. We were pleasantly surprised by the warm welcome we had from the owners. They are friendly and helpful. They made for us pizza, they organized barbecue evenings and their olive oil is outstanding! We will return absolutely. Thank you Villa in Umbria for the reservation and tips about things to do in Umbria. For the next guests maybe a nice tip: Restaurant Rancolfo. You should taste the fish menu. Very good and friendly. In Tavernacce is restaurant “Borgomela” where you can eat very well. You need to make a reservation, it is a bit expensive but very good! Worth a visit!

Best regards, Marc and Lieve Belgium

2013:

Dear Willemijn & Saskia,

We had the most beautiful holiday at Umbria and La Casella! Umbria is much wilder and more authentic than Tuscany, perfect for us! We were welcomed with hugs and homemade cake The pictures at your website don`t do the property right The house was much bigger than the pictures showed, and it was furnished and decorated with warmth and care for us We loved the house, and especially the beautiful swimming pool area! Perfect for families with kids! Paola and Walter was so nice and took very good care of us! Our kids were even so lucky to be invited to real italian lunch at Paolas mother! What a experience!

The only minus is the limited internetaccess at the house. You have internetaccess outside P&W`s house, but it is a bit unreliable as normal in Rancolfo. We also missed mosquitonets in the bedrooms, and we had the opportunity to meet quite a few scorpions! We are not used to scorpions in Norway and we have not seen any in Italy before, so this made us a little worried in the beginning. But we got used to them after some days But of course, when you want real and authentic italian countryside, you also get the animals

We recommend La Casella to anyone!

Please give our best wishes to Paola and Walter!

Best regards Sandra & Viktor from Norway

Dear Willemijn and Saskia,

We had a wonderful holiday. La Casella is a good house with a lot of space outside and with very complete furniture and inventory. Add this to the fact that the owners are very friendly and you have a top holiday !

It is amazing how Paola and Valter manage to be so hospitable whilst respecting your privacy. We had a couple of very pleasant evenings with them with lots of good food and wine. We quickly understood eachother being all interested in good food and we appreciated a lot the gift we got: a cooking book with only Umbrian dishes. So sweet !

The pool is very beautiful and quietly situated at the end of the garden. It sometimes seems like you’re alone on earth when sitting by the pool. Also our old dog Sammie was warmly welcomed and had plenty of space n the garden. The garden is well kept and we very much enjoyed the fresh fruit and spices we could pick ourselves. It is all just a small paradise !

I cannot think of anything negative, apart maybe that the pictures on your website do not reflect the reality: it is much better !

In the revies on your website I read about a rather present family friend, Patricia. THis lady is not here anymore. She moved elsewhere. Paola and Valter and their son hardly ever used the pool. Als in this respect they appreciate their guests’ privacy.

Finally I’d like to thank you for the swift  and efficient booking: between our decision to go on holiday until our arrival at La Casella it was just a week !

With kind regards,
M. & W. and the dog Sammie, from Holland

From 2012:

Hi Willemijn and Saskia,

we have had a great time in La Casella. Driving up to the drive-way you really get this 'wow-feeling'! A lovely house with everything one could possible need. Cosy and with good beds! Great owners, so friendly. The first night we were invited for dinner with the whole family and to us it seemed as if we had landed in the middle of a Bertolli publicity. Beautiful pool and tasty plums from the garden. Ideally situated for trips.

Thanks for all! Best wishes, Mieke

Dear Saskia and Willemijn,

we intensely enjoyed the nice and beautiful location La Casella. The cottage is cosy and furnished with warmth. The pool (and adjacent small house with toilet and shower) is fantastic, with excellent views and very quiet. Add the extremely kind owners to this and you have an unforgettable holiday. Despite this we do have 2 small remarks. There are numerous cats on the property and this does need some adjustments. When bbq'ing for example you can not leave the meat alone or the cats get it and they are incredibly persistent. Also having fly screens in the windows would have been nice so one can air the house at night time.

Apart from this we can only praise the cottage. On top of that we want to thank you for the interesting trip to Castel Rigone.

Maybe we will meet a next time. Best wishes, Ruud and Roel

From 2011:

Dear Saskia and Willemijn,

this was the third time we visited La casella and we have booked again for next year.

This says all, doesn't it?

Best wishes, Paul

Dear Saskia and Willemijn,

first of all thanks for the good care you took of us and wonderful all could have been arranged so shortly before our arrival. We look back with great pleasure on our holiday in La Casella. The owners are extremely friendly and we had plenty privacy. Very good service from you and the owners! Really we do not have any negative to add, our holiday was superb and beautiful!

Best wishes, Family G.

From 2010:

Dear Saskia and Willemijn,

We had a great time in La Casella. Neat house and beautiful, tranquil surroundings. Also the pool is great. And as you will know the weather overall was good. If you want to look at the night sky you have to move to the pool area since there are some trees near the house, I assume they planned it this way since the owners live near the house. The owner and his family are extremely friendly and very attentive people which will never give you any trouble. We were even invited to join in on a very chatty family BBQ night. They had even installed Sky TV specially for us! In comparison to Citta di Castello and San Sepolcro restaurants and bars in the nearby area are not abundant. Overall a fantastic holiday.

Kind regards, Toon

Dear Willemijn and Saskia,

We had a lovely week in La Casella. It met our expectations so no comments. Lovely house, great surroundings, nice pool and friendly people. No complaints. All the best,

Kind regards, M.Q.

Ciao Saskia & Willemijn,

We are back home, the two weeks we stayed at La Casella flew by it seemed more like a week. We arrived the 26th of June and had to remain in the car for half an hour because of a downpour. The directions were very good an it was easy to find the house despite the bad weather. Owners Paola and Walter are sweethearts very hospitable and extremely friendly, we also met the son and his girlfriend Patrizia. In two weeks we have been invited twice to have dinner with them, the first time Patrizia had her birthday and the second time the daughter of the owners had come over with her children. Everyone brought a dish, we had made the Dolce, it was a loooooooong party…..

La Casella is very cosy and really met our expectations, however we do have a few comments.

1. While the house was neat especially the kitchen and bathroom could have been neater.
2. The hood was very greasy and hadn't been cleaned.
3. Personally I'd replace the toilet in the bathroom since it has had its time.
4. In many drawers and cupboards you can find things that have no use like broken lamps, old paintings etc.
5. The garden surrounding the house could do with a bit more attention (my wife took up the job of gardener for two weeks).

Walter is a hardworking man who leaves the house very early and comes home late but they do have to keep in mind that the lovely house and garden need work now and then. With heavy hearts we left the 10th of July and we must have made an impression because when we arrived home there were already some emails from them awaiting us. One cat really missed us.

As said we had a super holiday at La Casella and the pictures we took will be a dear memory for us.

Thanks again, regards, Harry

The down payment is 30% of the rental sum. The balance has to be paid one month before arrival.
The security deposit is 200 euro.

In Italy the tourism tax has been introduced. Each town can decide independently whether to apply this tax. It is important to keep in mind that the prices on our website do NOT include the tourism tax. Where we received confirmation from house owners that they have to ask for this tax, it is written underneath the price table.

Villa in Umbria is an intermediary and as such rents out holiday homes and apartments on behalf of their owners. When you book we will be sending an agreement in which you will find the bank details for the down payment and the final payment.

We know each vacation rental personally and also the owners of all the holiday rentals we have in our portfolio.
