Private holiday villa in central Italy

Holiday villa 'Casa Svedesi' (meaning house of the Swedish, because the owners are from Sweden) has a nice garden with bocce court, a small sitting area under a pergola of grapes, a nice herb border, some fruit trees and of course the splendid swimming pool (5 by 12 meters and 1.55 meter deep). The pool has a cover guests can remove and pull over it (for protection and also keeping the water warm). Next to the swimming pool one can sit in the shade of a pergola made in wood. There are sun beds. Views are extraordinary. Hills all around with olive groves, Sagrantino vines and on one side the old wall of the town of Saragano.

The ground floor of the villa for rent:
One enters the villa at the side in a huge living room with two dining areas and a comfortable sitting area. Next is the well appointed kitchen (fridge, oven, microwave, dishwasher, espresso machine and a lot of working space) with a breakfast table. A door to the terrace with wooden chairs and table makes alfresco dining an extra joy. There is a barbecue on gas and a second one for charcoal.
Furthermore there is one service toilet (no shower), a full bathroom with bath and shower and 3 double bedrooms. There is also an extra bedroom where four children could sleep.

The first floor of the villa:
There is one double bedroom with terrace and nice views. There is another twin bedroom and two bathrooms (one with shower and one with a bath). There is a third small bedroom with bunkbeds. This floor has also a living room (with television) and a small kitchen corner.

The villa has a big garage below where the freezer and washing machine can be found.

The villa is situated at the edge of Saragano, a very small antique village in the centre of Umbria. Saragano has a good restaurant and a wine bar that belong to the local hotel. They also have a cigar club and a spa. There is a small play ground for children. Shops are in Collesecco and San Terenziano, both on 4 km drive.

Distances to a few famous towns in Umbria are:
Perugia 40 km; Todi 20 km; Foligno 30 km; Spoleto 30 km; Assisi 45 km

The road to the holiday villa is all tarred, up to the last 20 meters. The villa has an automatic gate and ample parking inside.

Hello Saskia and Sylvia,

we enjoyed very much our stay in Umbria!

The villa has an interesting architecture, and is designed to enjoy the amazing views over the hills. The interior is very spacious and the kitchen is well equipped. The barbecue and toys for the kids were perfect. The position of the swimming pool is excellent, from there one has a wonderful panorama. We loved the dining area at the pool, with enough shade for more than 11 people. The bathrooms and bedrooms are all maintained which makes it an ideal house for groups. Really recommended!

Regards, Wouter from Belgium

Hello Saskia and Sylvia,

As with our previous holiday at Casa Svedesi the house was good and comfortable. There is more than enough space and everything works well. The surroundings of Casa Svedesi offer many good possibilities for sightseeing: Orvieto, Perugia, Trasimeno Lake and even Norcia. Nothing but praise for your organization and eye for detail. And we think we will definitely use your service again in the nearby future. In short: it was a perfect holiday, we really didn’t want to go back home.

Best regards, Timmie Belgium

Dear Saskia and Sylvia,

It is nice to arrive at Casa Svedesi : decent, sunny, spacious, tranquil, beautiful surroundings, and my brother in law, who was with us this time, enjoyed very much the well equipped kitchen! Consider the following issues like small inconveniences, because I want to be clear : we really had a lovely time at Casa Svedesi! like last year the waste container was full, the containers from the comune. Waste attracts flies and causes problems for us. Lucia, the caretaker, phoned a couple of times about this problem. After that the containers were half full, which was better. The gas barbecue was defect, but as an alternative there was a coal barbecue we could use Lucia told us that the coffee machine was broken, but we resolved the problem. And as mentioned before by previous guests: an umbrella would be convenient to eat outside. This villa has a lot to offer! Thank you very much for the good service and the feedback on your website. Keep on going!

And thanks a lot to Lucia who was very helpful upon our arrival and departure.

Sunny greetings, Jan Belgium

PS. comment from the owners 2015: there have been added 4 more waste containers and the gas barbecue now has an extra supply of gas in case it runs out. The charcoal barbecue is always available.

August 2013:

Dear Willemijn and Saskia,

This was the second time in the villa and all our expectations were fulfilled.

This house has everything to offer: long evenings dining outside, lots of things you daily need are present, good kitchen... well, we knew all this from last year. Maybe it is an idea to show the guests where they have to throw away the organic rubbish.

The coffee machine could do with some decalcification, but still worked well enough. The other coffeemachin was broken, but we found another one in the cellar. We mentioned to Lucia that the floatable toys in the pool need sostitution. An extra umbrella would be welcome, especially on the terrace near the kitchen. All small things, that did not influence our holiday negatively.

When we left on Saturday morning, I thought: “What a pity, it’s over again, but we’ll be back!”.

Thanks again for the swift answers and the good care. I may contact you again soon!

September 2013:

I have been meaning to email you for some time, but……. it is almost a month since we returned from Italy.  My family had a great time in Umbria and enjoyed Casa Svedesi.  The villa is spacious, accommodating and the view as you know is magnificent.  The location and countryside scenery are better than the pictures on the website. I cannot say enough about Lucia who was very helpful and welcomed us as family to the villa, to Saragano and to La Locanda del Prete. Saragano is pleasingly remote and relaxing. The circuit breakers in the villa tripped numerous times but I assume this is a problem you’re aware of.  I would recommend keeping candles at Casa Svedesi for those occasions…

I will definitely recommend Umbria and Casa Svedesi to friends and family traveling to Italy.

From 2012:

Dear Saskia and Willemijn,

Our stay has been, in one word: splendid! All was present and more. Beautiful weather, excellent swimming pool and perfectly situated house. Thanks for your excellent services. We are strongly considering returning next year, because of 11 very happy Belgians.

Hi Saskia and Willemijn,

Our holiday has already ended again.

All has gone well and we liked both villas. Casa Svedesi was a good house, although the garden seemed less well maintained than last time (there were some weeds in between the stones and plants near the stairs leading to the swimming pool). However, this does not influence the overall high quality of the villa as such.

However, we do really love Umbria, the beautiful landscape, the peace and quiet and last but not least the wonderful weather!

Best wishes, Peter & Anne

From 2011:

Hi Willemijn/Saskia,

The week was fantastic and passed far too fast. The house is wonderful. Lots of privacy and yet not too isolated. The caretaker was friendly and the reception was hospitable. We don't know what more can be done to improve this house. We will certainly make use of your services again.

Best wishes, Leen

From 2010:

Hello Saskia and Willemijn,

Overall we are very content having stayed at Casa Svedesi. Preperations and booking were very swift as was the reception by the caretaker of the house. The caretaker was always available and the small problems we encountered during our stay (for instance not enough towels in bathroom and kitchen) were quickly solved. It is hard to fault the villa itself, it is very spacious and offers all the comfort one could wish for. There was a problem with a blocked water discharge in a shower and some smell in another bathroom (maybe another blockage?). The gas BBQ outside was very welcome. Pity we had to buy another gas tank to be able to use it. As you can see a few minor issues but overall we have been very happy with our stay.

Kind regards and maybe till next year T. B.

From 2009:

we had a lovely holiday in Umbria. Casa Svedesi was perfect and very clean. The surroundings are beautiful with many sights to see. Lucia's hospitality and help was good. The house can easily be recommended to large families. The kitchen was very practical. And thanks to you too. We liked your services. Next time we come to Umbria, we will check out your website.

With kind regards, Frans and Sonja

We very much enjoyed our week in Umbria at the Casa Svedesi. Beautiful location and the house has anything one could need. An ideal place for people who look for quietness but also want to do some sightseeing. It was all perfect. We do not have any negative remarks (except that it was over too quickly!) Thank you for the good organisation and the friendliness of Lucia.

Best regards, Peter & Anne and family

We stayed at the Casa Svedesi with two other families and had a very good time in Saragano!

We thought the house looks much better then it seems on th epictures. It is very spacious, well kept and has all the comfort one needs. Apart from the small kitchen upstairs and the large kitchen downstairs there also is a large freezer in the basement, a washing machine, iron and iron board and even a fittness-chair and some toys for children.

The view from the house and the pool is breathtaking. It is also easy to get round from here. We went to: Assisi, Spello, Orvieto, the Marmore cascades in Terni, Bevagna, Trevi, Fabro, even Rome can be done in a day (almost 2 hours drive). In San Terenziano, at only 4 kms there really is the best Gelateria of Umbria! Don't miss it!

We had a really good time!

The owners ask for a 15% booking deposit, via bank transfer. The remainder has to be paid one month prior to arrival. The security deposit is 400 euro.

In Italy the tourism tax has been introduced. Each town can decide independently whether to apply this tax. It is important to keep in mind that the prices on our website do NOT include the tourism tax. Where we received confirmation from house owners that they have to ask for this tax, it is written underneath the price table.

Villa in Umbria is an intermediary and as such rents out holiday homes and apartments on behalf of their owners. When you book we will be sending an agreement in which you will find the bank details for the down payment and the final payment.
