Borgo Trevine

This organic holiday farm with 8 holiday apartments for rent is set in the hills not far from Città di Castello. The owners run a farm and a small restaurant for guests' use only. The position high on a hill top overlooking the Tiber valley is very tranquill and relaxing.

"We enjoyed our holiday a lot, the place was perfect. Friendly owners and everything was well maintained."

There is a pool for use of the guests of the farm and a small restaurant where the lovely, and real Italian, owners serve excellent meals prepared with exceptional care and their own produce. There are 8 apartments for rent, sharing a lovely swimming pool 6 m x 12 m surrounded by a well kept garden. In the borgo are also houses of other owners who live here all year, they have their own entrance and do not use the pool.

The organic agriturismo is spread over several old buildings, which once belonged to the castle and was part of the village of Trevine. Now nothing remains of the castle but the name referring to its three towers. The only other buildings remaining are an old stone Fattoria (farm) and the ruins of some old typically Umbrian houses.

Situated about 10 km from Città di Castello, the site is ideal for day trips to explore cities rich in Italy's cultural and artistic heritage in both Umbria and Tuscany.

Part of the property is used for farming. The guests at Borgo Trevine will find a restaurant, where most products served are home grown and the spaghetti, ravioli, etc. are home made. The restaurant is closed on Monday, Tuesday and Thursdays. The owners run the restaurant themselves, for guests of the farm (you can book free breakfast the day after arrival and you can also book a dinner, not free, for the night of arrival).

2016:

Borgo Trevine is a gem high upon a hill in the north of Umbria, close to the village of Monte Santa Maria Tiberina. In this area there are several walking tracks. Sometimes it is necessary to check if you're going the right way, but it is nice walking here. Borgo Trevine is an excellent accommodation for children. The owners are very friendly and a few times a week they prepare good meals for their guests. We've stayed in Apartment I Lecci: the apartment is spacious and well equipped. There is no balcony or terrace, but we didn't mind at all. We loved staying at the pool. For the children there's a playground. In this play area one find games, books an a table soccer game. From the pool one has an amazing view over the hills. There are enough sun beds and small tables. If you want you can also use the barbecue. A visit to the small hamlet Montone is recommended. We loved restaurant Tipico in the historical centre of Montone!

Apartment Rosa

Dear Saskia and Sylvia,

first we wanted to inform you that we had a great holiday in Umbria! The accommodation is perfectly situated on a hill top. From there you have stunning views! At the restaurant of Borgo Trevine we had a good dinner. The owners are hospitable and friendly. The apartment was ok, but we have some small issues: The wifi was not working well, in the apartment itself there was no router for wifi, therefor we were forced to use the internet of our neighbors. The terrace outside is small and rather closed. The pool is well maintained. Unfortunately there were a lot of bees.

Best regards, Rob Holland

Apartment Loggia

Dear Saskia and Sylvia, We enjoyed our holiday a lot, the place was perfect. Friendly owners and everything was well maintained. The apartment was fantastic. The children played with the dog of the owner and also with the little kittens. I cannot think of any negative element!

Regards, Ilse Holland

2013:

Dear Willemijn and Saskia,

We had a good week. What a lovely view over the tiber valley!
Apartment Rosa is well furnitured, the owners are very friendly. We would have appreciated it, if there would have been a possibility to get fresh bread in the morning.

Best regards, Daan and Hanneke from Holland

Good evening,

We had a very good stay at the Borgo Trevine. Just a tip for future guests: the bakery passes by a few times a week in the morning. When ordering the bread the day before, they will bring it up hill the day after.

Regards, René from Holland

From 2012:

Dear Willemijn and Saskia,

We have had a great stay in Borgo Trevine. Nice apartment (very clean and nicely furnished), beautiful area, lovely pool with nice views. The Guerri family is very kind and Paolo is a good and relaxed host. The food was excellent. In short: Top! A small remark would be to have a less dense hedge around the Casa Rosa terrace would give a better view and a nicer sense of liberty. Maybe we will see you next year.

Best wishes, Frederique

Dear Madam,

we have just returned from 2 weeks holiday at Borgo Trevine. We had to leave rather unexpectedly and fast on Friday, therefore we did not manage to thank the owner for the excellent holiday we have had. We do not speak Italian and therefore it would have been difficult anyway to tell them, unless with hand gestures. Maybe you can let them know on our behalf? We thoroughly enjoyed the position, the food, the swimming pool … everything really. We also want to thank you and your organization for the extensive information and assistance. Also the area is beautiful, as well as the cities and villages! We really thank you very much, from 4 new Umbria lovers.

Family B from Belgium (we stayed in apartment Belvedere)

From 2011:

Dear Willemijn & Saskia,

excuse me for the late reply, but our stay in Borgo Trevine can be summarized in one word: SUPER! The reception, the food, the view over the valley and the other guests all were like scoring the bull's eye! I almost forgot to mention your follow up and interactions were very pleasant and professional. Thanks!!

Good luck and do keep us informed …

Best wishes, J-M

Dear Willemijn and Saskia,

we have very much enjoyed our stay in Trevine. Not only we, but also our children liked it a lot. The owners were very kind and we will recommend this place to our friends. We have no negative experience to report to you, just a few tips for improvement. We would have liked getting a A4 with information about the nearest bakery, ATM and restaurants with opening hours, supermarkets etc. We would also have liked more information about the equipment in the apartment, like the dishwasher and microwave.

Thanks and best wishes, Robert

From 2010:

Hello Saskia and Willemijn,

We are back in our rainy country and would like to give a reaction regarding our stay in Umbria. We had a very good time. The excursion to the a abbey was great. Nice to meet you live.  We very much enjoyed the house, spacious, two bathrooms, good kitchen with dishwasher. Very friendly owners, good food and nice pool. Only small minus were the building works on the adjacent land and that we couldn't rent from wednesday to wednesday which would have been more convenient for us. Maybe you can help us also next year to a pleasant home for our family!

Kind regards, Family P.

From 2009:

We rented the Granaio apartment at Borgo Trevine and it was super!

-clean, good beds, comfortable and even fly screens!
-wonderful views
-good restaurant at good prices
-very kind owners

In short, one of the top accommodation to add to our list of accommodations to visit in Umbria!

Kind regards, Ben

We stayed at Borgo Trevine, apartment Rosa. Positive: large bedrooms and bathroom.

Less positive: the owners really only speak italian. The website mentions cooking lessons, but I did not do it, since it seemed impossible to comunicate. The website talks about wellness activities at Borgo Trevine, but to take part you will have to call a number to make a reservation. This is not what I had expected. It also says that there are local products for sale. I did not see them and I couldn't ask either, because of the language problem. We would have enjoyed the possibility to take a capucino during the day or an ice-cream for the children. Inventory of the kitchen is reduced and we had a small terrace underneath the outside staircase (we knew that beforehand, though).

On the whole, we enjoyed our holiday and fondly remember our stay at Borgo Trevine.

Regards, Stephanie

Reaction Villa in Umbria: we do not mention the possibility of wellness activities on our website, and do not know about this possibility at Borgo Trevine. Whatever is written on other websites is not something we can be held responsible for.

From before 2009:

Dear Willemijn,

Thank you for your email, hereby our experiences at Borgo Trevine.

Positive (in no special order...... ;-)):
-Stunning location
-Well done, spacious appartments
-Nice amenities (because of the bad weather didn't try the pool....beginning of June)
-Very kind and helpful owners
-Fantastic local kitchen including 'La Mama'!

Negative:
- A bit isolated (for a supermarket with a larger assortment one has to go to Citta di Castello, a 30 minutes drive)
- We specifically had asked for an appartment on the ground floor without stairs (we brought a puppy). We got an appartment with an outdoor stair...... switching was impossible.

All in all very good!

Regards, Peter

Hello Willemijn,

We tremendously enjoyed our holiday, the apartments were great, the owners exceptionally friendly, hospitable and benevolent. Moreover good cooks and restaurateurs, we ate marvelously! So once again we enjoyed a lovely holiday in Umbria!

Kind regards, Kristel

Hello,

Just to let you know, we had a great holiday at Borgo Trevine, splendid location with an extra big advantage; a large terrace! This makes it all even better.

Kind regards, Anne

Just to say how much we enjoyed our holiday at Borgo Trevine and to thank you for organising our booking.

La Loggia apartment is really comfortable and so clean, as was the bedding, linen etc. The restaurant was wonderful, the family so friendly, my grandchildren played with their children, in fact everything about the place, pool, gardens, premises was perfect, as I am sure you already know.

The other guests, (especially the Dutch ones!), were a pleasure to share our holiday with. A truely wonderful holiday, I will be writing to the owners to thank them but if you speak to them in the meantime please convey our thanks to them.

Many thanks. Kind regards, Eileen

Hello,

About our holiday in Borgo Trevine:

Nice owners, really make efforts to please you, but: the layout of the apartments is very inconvenient because of their proximity. All cars in front of the doors, rather provincial. We stayed in apartment Rondine which provided some privacy, next to us the two apartments had cars, so to speak, drive over ones toe's when seated on the terrace. All in all a bit akward. Nonetheless we had a nice holiday.

Once more, the owners are very sweet people who mean well but don't yet really understand what the west-european holiday makers wants.

Kind regards, Marc

The downpayment is 30% of the rental sum. The remainder has to be paid one month before arrival.
The security deposit is Eur 150.

In Italy the tourism tax has been introduced. Each town can decide independently whether to apply this tax. It is important to keep in mind that the prices on our website do NOT include the tourism tax. Where we received confirmation from house owners that they have to ask for this tax, it is written underneath the price table.

Villa in Umbria is an intermediary and as such rents out holiday homes and apartments on behalf of their owners. When you book we will be sending an agreement in which you will find the bank details for the down payment and the final payment.

We know each vacation rental personally and also the owners of all the holiday rentals we have in our portfolio.
